QAS operate 260 Ambulance Branches and 20 volunteer first responder locations. All of the service’s operational members are trained in the management of asthma and carry oxygen and Medications to effectively treat cases that range from mild to life threatening. In addition to these skills, some ambulances are crewed by Intensive Care Ambulance (ICA) Paramedics who carry additional medications for the treatment of life-threatening asthma and are trained in advanced airway management techniques.

In some areas of the state the QAS work closely with the Royal Flying Doctor Service to ensure access to patients in remote locations.
